What are my options for greyhound ownership or syndication?
If you have decided to take the leap from greyhound punter to greyhound owner, either outright or purchasing greyhound shares as part of a greyhound syndicate, then you have two options; you can purchase a greyhound pup or a ready to race greyhound. Once you have worked out your budget, you should consult a variety of sources to make sure you get the best information available. There is a plethora of information available on this website.
• Greyhound Pups- Purchasing a greyhound pup for syndication or outright ownership is the more common way for people to get involved in the greyhound industry (it is often the cheapest way to get involved.) You will generally purchase a pup from around 3 months of age. You get to do everything with your greyhound including naming it. You can get a greyhound pup from as low as $500 but obviously breeding could lead to a more expensive greyhound.
• Racing Greyhounds- If you have no interest in watching your greyhound grow up, you can get involved in the action of greyhound ownership or syndication quicker by purchasing a ready to race greyhound. This is generally a more expensive option as you would have more idea of the ability of your greyhound. If your greyhound has started racing, you may miss out on the opportunity to name it. Price depends on breeding, but you could get a ready to race greyhound from as low as $1500.
I have already listed on this site the biographies of some of the premier greyhounds who are now becoming sires, and as our available list of greyhounds available for ownership or syndication increases we will constantly add sire information pages.
We have a variety of pups and syndication opportunities available on our greyhound noticeboard but you can always contact me for further information.
