More and more, mobile phone companies are bringing out convergent devices, otherwise known as smart phones. Smart phones are part mobile phone, part PDA and part portable internet device.
For many business people, their smart phone is a vital tool. This does not necessarily mean that you will benefit from getting a smart phone yourself. Here are some questions that you will need to ask yourself if you are considering purchasing a smart phone. If you buy one and discover it was the wrong phone for you, it could be a very expensive mistake.
• Will you actually use the features on the phone- A smart phone has a lot of features. You need to ask yourself if you need all the features that come with your smart phone. Whilst a feature may seem cool, it doesn’t actually mean that you will use it. If you will use the features then a smart phone may be beneficial.
• Would being in contact more boost your productivity- With a smart phone, you can receive calls, text messages and emails. If the ability to respond to emails in a more timely manner would boost your business, then you should get a smart phone.
• Do you need access to the internet on the road- If you need access to the internet whilst you are on the road, a smart phone will make this easy for you. Whilst most phones now have internet access, the bigger screen on a smart phone makes for better navigation.
Before deciding whether to purchase a smart phone or not, make sure that you consider the questions I have mentioned above.
