During the year, it can be too easy to get caught up in the day to day running of your business. Concentrating on the mundane, but necessary, tasks means that you do not get to concentrate on business growth and system development. The holiday period provides a great time for you to get your business back on track. Here are some things that you can do to get your business back on track and set up for the future.
Look at your telecommunications needs- Communicating is a vital part of any business, so telecommunications is extremely important. However, in the day to day running of your business, this is often overlooked. You should look at your telecommunications plans to save money and you should look at your telecommunications technology to see if there is a better way to keep in touch with your clients.
Use the holidays to systemise your business- Every day, there are repeat processes that you do in your business. These processes should be part of your business system. You should write down this process in step by step instructions. These instructions need to be simple and really easy to understand. You should write them in a way so that anybody can understand them and implement them, whether they understand your business or not. The purpose of these instructions are so that you can get someone else to work in your business so that you can move on to growing your business. Also, if you ever get bored, this systems manual makes it easier to sell your business because the new owner can just take over from where you left off.
Set your goals, and plan to reach them- If you have not properly set goals, then you do not have a road map of where you are going. It is like you are just treading water. If you do not have goals you simply cannot be successful. You need to set Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely goals so that you can tell if you reach them. Once you have the goals, then you can set a proper plan to reach these goals.
Do yourself a favour and utilise your holiday time effectively. Make 2010 the year of your success.
