The Google Android software for smart phones is not new. HTC have released a number of handsets running this operating system. Google has now decided to enter the handset market themselves.

GOOGLE has unveiled its new Nexus One smartphone, but you’ll have to wait a while to get one.
The touch-screen device was today billed by Google as a “superphone” and the next step in the evolution of its Android software.
The phone, which has no set release date in Australia, is expected to be released gradually around the world.

Here is a link to one of the first online reviews:

The Nexus One. In the modern climate of hyped (and over-hyped) smartphone launches, Google’s official entry into the phone-sales game has excelled in a department where many find difficulty: generating legitimate excitement.

Whilst there is no official release date for Australia, I do feel that this handset could create the kind of buzz that is currently being generated by the Iphone. With their suite of online products- calendars, emails, docs etc, Google is well poised to take a significant share of the handset market quite quickly.

I think that this handset will be quite popular amongst the entrepreneurs who are building up their business and make use of Google products to cut their costs.

When I have the chance to get my hands on the Nexus One, I will write you guys a more in depth review.
