Public relations activities do not just happen. You need to be proactive with your PR. You need to take action and take it regularly. Obviously not everybody is an expert in public relations. If you fit in to this category then this article is for you. Below I will outline 3 proactive public relations tips that will be easy for you to implement. These ideas should also make it easy for you to measure their level of success so that you can work out whether your actions are worthwhile and profitable.
You should sponsor a local charity or sporting organisation- Sponsoring a local charity or sporting group has two benefits. It opens you up to new customers as the group members and their supporters want to return your support by supporting your business. It can also help build goodwill for your business. If potential customers know that you support local groups they will feel goodwill towards you.
You should write regular press releases and sent them to local newspapers- There is no point doing good work in your business if nobody knows what it is that you are doing. You should be proactive in writing press releases and sending them to local papers whenever you have anything newsworthy to say. If you could regularly write an article you may want to speak to the editor of your local paper and check whether they would let you write a regular piece on business issues.
You need to build your online presence- Statistics consistently show that more and more people are getting online to research companies and find out where they should buy products. If you do not have an online presence then you are missing out on access to a lot of customers. At a very minimum you need to set up a website and a Facebook fan page but you should also set up a blog and write articles to submit to article directories.
You need to do some research on which local organisation you want to support but you could implement the other two tips today. If you are still confused but want to build your public relations, get in touch with me today.
