Public Relations is not a passive venture. It is something you can implement easily for your business but it is something you need to be proactive whilst you are doing it.
When you are engaging in any Public Relations ventures, there are some things that you need to answer. The questions that you need to make sure that you answer can be broken down in to the following categories- who, what, when, where, why and how.
Who- Who are you (how do you want your audience to see you) and who are you trying to reach? Who should be hearing your message?
What- What is the message you are trying to get out there and what do you want your audience to do with your message?
When- When are you going to put out the message and when do you want your audience to react to your message by?
Where- where do your audiences go for information? Where is your message going to have maximum impact? Where will your audience need to go to benefit fully from your message?
Why- Why would your message be of interest to anyone? Why should they take action?
How- How can your audience utilize your message effectively? How can you track the success of your message?
Proactive Public Relations means that you need to answer the questions that I have outlined above. If you do not answer these questions, then your message will not be as effective as it could be.
