Every salesperson or business owner (who are also salespeople) would love an increase in the number of their customers- they would love to boost sales. The purpose of this article is to give you some tips to increase your sales and boost your earning capacity.

• Promote 1 thing at a time- Don’t confuse customers by trying to sell them more than one thing at a time. Concentrate on the one product that you think will most benefit your prospect’s business, and then sell them that. Once you have changed a prospect to a customer, it is much easier to sell them more products.

• Concentrate on Benefits- Your prospects are not dumb. They can read a brochure or search the internet to see the features of your product. If you want your sales to skyrocket, concentrate on the benefits of your product. Don’t tell a prospect what your product can do. Tell them why the features of your product will benefit their business.

• Personalise- This works on two levels. People like to deal with people. So don’t go in to a prospect sounding like a robot that only has one sales pitch. Make your product relevant to each product. Chat, don’t dominate the conversation, and make it all about the prospect.

• Provide Specifics- A statement like “buy this product and you will lower your costs” will not work. Instead try something like “New clients have generally lowered costs by 20% and increased productivity by 10%.” Make sure you can back up your statements though.

• Play on emotions- As much as we would like to think that we all make rational decisions 100% of the time, this is clearly not true. Emotion plays a large part of the buying decision making process. Play on emotional rewards like ‘spending more time with family’ or ‘enjoying new found wealth.’ Get people excited.
