If you have made the decision to become a greyhound owner I want to congratulate you. However, you haven’t made it to the hardest part yet. It is now time to pick the greyhound that you are going to buy. The purpose of this article is to share with you the importance of greyhound breeding in choosing your greyhound.
• Historical data suggests a well bred dog will be more successful- If you look at previously successful greyhound winners, data suggests that well bred dogs win more often than dogs that are not so well bred. Whilst it may be possible to win with a dog that does not come from impeccable breeding, it is much more likely that you will have a winner if your dog is well bred.
• Genetic makeup is important- Genetics play a large part in how well a greyhound will run. A pup whose genes come from champions on both side will have a good chance of being a winner itself.
• A well bred pup is worth more if you want to sell it- Sometimes economic circumstances change and you may have to sell a pup that you have purchased. A well bred pup will be easier to sell than a greyhound from less than impeccable breeding.
Greyhound breeding is important. If you want to boost your chances of having a successful greyhound then you need to get the best bred dog that you can.
