If you are planning on using your domestic cell or mobile phone service while traveling overseas, whether you travel for business or please, you can end up paying up to $5 per minute just to make or receive a call with exorbitant international roaming rates. It’s crazy that people still use their home service when they are travelling. Some travelers return home from their trip to find out they ran up a huge phone bill in the thousands of dollars! We see this regularly even though we try and educate our clients about the costs associated with their home mobile phone. Do yourself a favour and get a global SIM card (often also referred to as an International Roaming SIM card. I’ve seen customers get bills in excess of $20000 within 10 minutes after long flights if they are silly enough to use data roaming. I don’t want this to happen to you!

Here is our review of OneSIM Card, one of the biggest International SIM cards on the market. OneSimCard is a low-cost alternative to overseas international roaming charges that you incur with your domestic cell or mobile phone provider. OneSimCard has roaming agreements with 320 mobile carriers in over 190 countries, allowing for savings of up to 90% on calls made on your cell or mobile phone while abroad — from 29c/min for outgoing calls and free incoming cell or mobile phone calls in many countries. Here are some more features of the OneSIMCard International Roaming SIM card that may be of interest to you:

One European number no matter which country you are in. Previously people bought individual country prepaid cell or mobile SIM cards when travelling to avoid international roaming but this becomes too confusing if people are not 100% sure what country you will be in

No Contracts, No Monthly Charges . Everything is prepaid so you know exactly how much money you are spending

Optional local or toll-free US, Canadian or UK Second Numbers

FREE incoming calls in 75 countries (it’s the incoming call costs that are the real killer when it comes to international roaming charges with your home mobile service.)

FREE incoming SMS text messages everywhere

Internet Data service in 100 countries (not cheap but better than roaming charges and prepaid so you can control your costs!) Try to stick to WiFI if you can.

FREE voicemail

Top-up your balance from anywhere at anytime – directly from your phone

Earn Mobile Miles Rewards for every minute spent on the phone

Interpreter services to 150 languages available 24/7. This can be great if you need to order a taxi!

Visit www.OneSimCard.com to learn more about prepaid international mobile phone service, unlocked cell or mobile phone bundles, or phone rentals and accessories.

Believe me, after promoting and selling business phone plans, business mobile phones and small business phone systems for the last 10 years, I’ve seen it all when it comes to frustrations experienced by customers (thankfully not our customers in general.) If businesses go on the wrong phone plan, they can end up with a phone that doesn’t suit their needs and they can end up spending more money than they need to without seeing any benefits in terms of business productivity (we do have clients whose bill goes up but by making positive choices their productivity increases and this increased cost of phone plan is more than offset by the increases in profits from a more productive workforce.

What if you were on better business phone plans? Here are some of the things your business could see:

Your staff could be happier- New business phone plans can make your staff happier for a couple of reasons. If it means they are getting a new smartphone they will likely be more productive. This means they can spend less time at the office and more time with their family. They may also be secretly pleased at the prospect of getting a new toy to play with.

You could save money- When was the last time you looked at the business phone plans that you were on? You could be spending a bucket load more money than you have to given that plans change so often as technology changes.

You could make money- Increased productivity of staff if you give them the right devices means you can make more money. We’ve seen examples of clients being able to see up to double the number of clients in a day they are able to see because they were given a smartphone on a new plan. More time in front of clients= more money!

You can improve your cashflow- With most new business phone plans, you can be given some certainty about your spending because there are all of these extra inclusions in plans that were not there some years ago. A few years back, most plans were the equivalent of pay as you go.

You could get a better handset- You see that old brick in your hand? It’s time to upgrade and get something better. A new business mobile phone need not leave you out of pocket and it can change your life.

It’s time to get a new business phone plan. You won’t regret it. Give Altitude Communications a call today if you are interested in discussing your options.

I know people that travel overseas regularly for business and pleasure. I have told all of them to look at getting a Prepaid International SIM card before they go but almost all of them choose not to listen to me and then they get burned by exorbitant roaming charges. I tell them but they don’t listen!

Here are two reasons I tell people to get a Prepaid International SIM Card when they travel.

1.They can avoid unexpected roaming charges. The problem for most people when they travel is they forget that it also costs money to receive calls as well as make calls. So, people may be happily talking on their phones whilst incurring charges for a call they didn’t make!

2.A prepaid international SIM card makes cashflow and spending much easier to track. Each time you make a call with your International SIM card you will get notification of how much credit you have left.
There should be no regrets when purchasing a prepaid International SIM card. The upfront costs associated with purchasing one of these SIM’s will be offset within one or two calls. Avoid exorbitant roaming charges today. You will not regret it.

You should have a Prepaid International SIM Card when you travel.

Whether you are looking for a business phone or a smartphone for personal use, there are some things that you need to think about. When you purchase a business smartphone there is always the possibility of post purchase dissonace if you don’t think properly about what you are doing.

Here are 10 thinks you need to think about before you decide on your new smartphone.

Make sure it will synchronise with your computer equipment- The first thing that you need to do is make sure that your phone synchronises with your computer software and equipment. You will want to back it up regularly so you can make sure you never lose all of your contacts again.
Make sure it will synchnronise with your mail server- Obviously one of the main benefits of a business smartphone is the ability to receive emails whilst you are on the road. Email can be delivered in different ways depending on your setup and you need to make sure that your office setup will synchronise with your handset.
Think about the Apps you are going to want and need- Apps have revolutionized smartphones- whether for collaboration, productivity, entertainment or education. What sort of apps would suit your business? Does the handset you are looking at support these apps?
Check whether it is locked to a mobile network- If you travel overseas a lot for work, you may want to look at getting an international SIM card. If you are using a handset that is locked to your home network you will not be able to use one of these international SIM cards.
Check the mobile frequencies that the smartphone will work on- Different mobile networks work on different frequencies. Different handsets work on these different frequencies and you need to make sure that you choose a handset that will work on the frequencies used by your chosen network.
Really think about how you are going to use the phone- Different handsets have different features and you need to understand how you are using your phone. Are the calling features most important or are the apps available more important? What is the purpose of your device?
Understand the warranty and support offered- Will support be provided by your mobile carrier? How long is your warranty? How easy is it to get warranty repairs? Will you get a loan phone if something does go wrong?
How much will it cost- Business smartphones aren’t cheap but many carriers will subsidise some of these costs if you go on a contract. Depending on the plan, you may find that you don’t need to outlay any money for the handset. Alternatively, you may find that the handset you are really thinking about is actually too expensive.
Do you want a keyboard- Many business smartphones these days are purely touch screen but some do still have keyboards- whether slide out like some HTC handsets or fixed like some blackberry handsets. Many people like the typing ability that comes with having a blackberry, especially if they send a lot of emails.
What is the battery life like and can you get accessories- Smartphones get used more heavily than mobile phones ever have in the past so you need to carefully consider battery life, or at least consider how you are going to keep your battery charged.

If you are interested in talking about the latest smartphones, give Altitude Communications a call.

Come on everyone, it’s time to move out of the dark ages and give the team at Altitude Communications a call. It’s time to stop using that ratty old Nokia that can’t access the internet and has those small keys. It you are in business, you need a smart phone.

Here are 1- reasons why you need to look at upgrading your business phone.

It can be good for productivity of you and your staff- There have been countless studies done as well as countless stories told anecdotally about how smart phones improve productivity. Some company managers suggest a smart phone, with the ability to respond to emails immediately and take calls o the go, has saved them around 2 hours per day from lost productivity.
It can help create a better work life balance- This two hours of saved down time means that staff aren’t chained to a desk after being out on the road all day. They can go home earlier and spend time with friends and family.
Sometimes you have to actually spend money to make money- Smart phone apps have been a god send for some businesses. For example, if you are a tradie using paper invoices still, simply moving to an electronic invoicing system on your smart phone could allow you to see up to twice as many clients in a day. This can lead to a lot more $$ coming in. Also, studies have shown that the quicker you invoice a client the quicker you get paid.
Sometimes the little things make your staff feel special- Studies have shown that monetary reward may not actually be the best way to motivate staff members. Sometimes other forms of recognition are better and giving them a new toy may be a great way for you to keep staff happy.
It can help with collaboration- A smart phone allows you to edit files whilst you are on the go, providing more instantaneous feedback to staff and between staff.
It can help with marketing- If you are engaged in social media marketing, you can do this from your phone with the right apps.
Your staff will always be able to answer the phone- The right business phone system gives your staff flexibility of communication previously not available. They can be reached on one number. If a potential client or existing client rings their desk phone, the staff member’s mobile phone will also ring.
It will make you look more professional in business- It may seem shallow but the right business phone actually gives your business more of an air of professionalism
It means you need to carry less when you travel- You could save all of your reports as PDF’s and read them on your smart phone instead of carrying bulky folders full of papers.
It will be fun- You’ll be able to listen to music, watch videos and play games.

Give Altitude Communications a call today and they can help you choose the right business phone for your needs.

For anyone who frequently travels, communication through mobile phones is really important. No matter where you may be I the world, you really need to have a mobile phone ready to take in and make calls. However, not all SIM cards that you use in your local territory would work in other countries. If they do, you will have to deal with a lot of other added charges as international roaming fee. It’s a good thing that there is a Global SIM card. And to answer all your questions regarding their services and features, here is a short onesimcard review:

OneSimCard is a global SIM card that lets you stay connected to people through your mobile phone without the heavy Roaming fees that would really hurt your budget. It provides you a prepaid SIM card with low-cost international rates in over 200 countries. One of the best things about this SIM card is that you don’t have to deal with charges for incoming calls and text messages. This can save you a lot of money.

Another nifty feature of this SIM card is the ability to add a personal extra number or PEN to your OneSimCard anytime. This enables you to receive incoming calls made to your domestic phone numbers. Plus you also get to enjoy free voice mail via email or phone.

In addition to this, you also get to enjoy global data internet in over 100 countries. This means that you can connect online anywhere you go without having to worry about roaming data charges that you usually get with your local provider.

They offer very affordable rates to hundreds of countries. You can check out their rates on their website. Another good thing about their service is that there are no hidden charges. What you see on their website is what you are going to be charged for. This makes it easier for you to set the budget on your mobile fees while traveling.

Another thing that we would like to focus on with our onesimcard review is their list of other services. Aside from providing you with a prepaid global SIM with low cost rates, you can also get other services from them like buying an international unlocked GSM phone or renting one out. This is good for those who travel abroad but not as frequent.

As for recharging your balances, it can also be easy by setting it to recharge automatically when your current balance runs low. You can buy credit with a credit card through your phone for easier access to talk time recharge. One more great service they offer is a corporate account that has more advanced features than a regular SIM. This is really great for businesses with agents traveling constantly abroad. With their corporate service, you can be sure to have clear and seamless connection with agents all over the world.

The features stated in this onesimcard review can all be found on their website. If you would want to know more on each package and rates for each country, you can visit them on their website. If you are going overseas you absolutely need to get a smart phone and an International SIM card. Also, WiFI and Skype can make your life easier. With a WiFI enabled phone yo ucan check your emails easily and with Skype you can easily call back home at little or no cost (No cost if you are in a free WiFI area.)

This article shares with you some great Apps that can drastically improve your travelling experience. If you get some of these apps- amongst others- before you travel, you may not need to buy a guidebook and you will not look like a tourist. If it is an audio program, people will just think you are listening to an MP3.

I travel quite frequently, at least once a year but usually more, and for both business and pleasure. I’ve made some mistakes when packing and I have learned a lot. What really taught me about packing to travel and working out what was important was when I went trekking through the mountains of Papua New Guinea. When you have to carry things up and down mountains for 8 hours a day, you certainly work out what you need and what you don’t. You learn what’s important and you learn how to reassess how different things can have multi uses.

Now, I’m guessing that most of you reading this post are not wanting to learn about packing for a trek (if you are, I think you should check out with your trekking company for advice, but if like most people you will be sticking to major metro areas, there are only a few absolute necessities and then everything else is a byproduct.

A smart phone- A mobile phone can now be so much more than calls and text message. You can check your email, you can check Facebook, you can check Twitter, you can surf the internet. Hey, you can even log in to places that offer specials using Foursquare. More important to you may be some of the apps that you can download to your phone. You can download guidebooks and phrasebooks that can help you easily get around in places where you may not understand the language.

A credit card- You should definitely not carry around large bundles of cash when travelling. Carry a credit card so that you know that you have some level of protection when travelling if you lose it.

A kindle or tablet device- The one thing about travelling that no one tells you about that always happens is the waiting. The waiting for planes, trains and buses can be a nightmare if you are not prepared. If you are a traveler, do yourself a favour and invest in some sort of tablet device- a kindle may be enough if all that you want to do is read a book but my Samsung Galaxy Tab also allows me to play games and watch videos.

A global SIM card- A global SIM card is also a necessity, especially for business travelers. It allows you to cheaply and conveniently stay in touch with people back home and also make it easy for people to contact you.

What do you think are the absolute necessities to pack when travelling, and what should you buy when you get there?
