Online retailer Amazon.com has rolled out a free program that brings several functions from its Kindle e-book reader to Apple’s iPod and iPhone’s smaller screen.

But the free iPhone/iPod App is only being released in the US and cannot be accessed via Apple’s Australian App Store.

I can’t work out why they wouldn’t want to access as many customers as possible. I think it would be profitable for them to release this application in Australia. I know I would pick it up!

Economists Slam Package, and Now it’s been killed in the Senate

The Senate inquiry into the Rudd Government’s $42 billion stimulus plan has been told that the $12 billion of cash handouts contained in the package will be wasted and will only have a short-term benefit for the economy.

Today, the Senate knocked back the package.

The package will not boost the economy and, in these times, we need something that will actually work.

Yahoo to change CEO

YAHOO is replacing its CEO, Jerry Yang, one of the founders of the pioneering Internet company.

Yahoo announced today that co-founder Mr Yang, who spurned a $US47 billion ($A72.36 billion) takeover offer from Microsoft this year, is stepping down as chief executive.

“Jerry and the board have had an ongoing dialogue about succession timing, and we all agree that now is the right time to make the transition to a new CEO who can take the company to the next level,” Yahoo chairman Roy Bostock said.

Interesting times!
